What this helps you do

Update a product without losing changes, and remove an old product in the safest correct way.

Before you start

Open Products, then select the arrow on the product row. Wait until Edit product finishes loading before changing anything.

Steps

Edit a product

  1. Change the fields you need.
  2. If you change its category, recheck all metafields and variants. Changing or clearing a category can clear the current variants in the editor.
  3. If you change a digital product, wait for its private-file status to finish loading.
  4. Check Status and Publishing before saving.
  5. Select Save once.
  6. Wait for confirmation before leaving the page.

Archive a product

  1. Change Status to Archived.
  2. Notice that Upstorr clears Online Store and Point of Sale publishing.
  3. Select Save.

Use Archive when the product has sales, bookings, documents, or connected history that should remain understandable.

Delete a product

  1. Select Delete.
  2. Read the permanent-deletion warning.
  3. Confirm only when you are sure the product and its connected working data are no longer needed.

Deletion cannot be undone. Upstorr blocks deletion when rental booking history still refers to the product and tells you to archive it instead.

Save and Discard

  • Save: becomes available only after a real change is made and the title remains filled.
  • Discard: throws away unsaved field changes and returns to Products.
  • Leaving with unsaved work shows a warning.
  • Discarding a digital product edit also removes the unsaved draft file changes created during that editing session.
  • If the saved product changed after you opened it, Upstorr protects that newer version instead of deleting or overwriting it blindly. Reload, review, and then try the intended action again.

When Active is blocked

  • A normal digital product cannot become Active or published until its required private files cover the product or every variant.
  • When automated local delivery is enabled, an Active physical product needs an SKU and weight for every selling identity plus complete package dimensions. Save it as Draft until these details are ready.
  • Archived products cannot be published.

For example, if a kurta sold last year but is discontinued, archive it. Staff can still understand old orders, while customers cannot buy it.

What happens next

A saved edit updates the product. An archived product remains in admin history but leaves both sales channels. A successfully deleted product is removed from the Products list.

Common problems

  • Save is disabled: Make a change, restore the title, wait for digital-file checks, or complete the required local-delivery details.
  • Active is unavailable for a digital product: Upload and save all required private files first.
  • Product cannot be deleted: It is used by protected business history. Archive it instead.
  • Delete says the version is unavailable: Reload the product so Upstorr can confirm you are deleting the version you actually reviewed.
  • Variants disappeared before saving: Select Discard immediately if changing the category cleared them by mistake.
