What this helps you do

Show customers only payment choices your store can honour and set clear Cash on Delivery limits.

Before you start

Open Settings → Payment. You need payment-gateway permission. Have the correct Razorpay account ready if you want online payments.

Steps

  1. Under Payment Providers, select Connect Razorpay.
  2. Complete the secure Razorpay connection for this store.
  3. Confirm the card says Connected.
  4. Under Checkout Payment Customization, tick each method customers may use.
  5. Move methods up or down into the order customers should see.
  6. Write a Customer-facing label and Helper text for every method.
  7. Complete any Cash on Delivery rules you need.
  8. Select Save changes and test checkout.

Understand the provider connection

Razorpay supports UPI, cards, and netbanking. Customer payments settle directly into this store's Razorpay account; the sales money does not pass through Upstorr. Secure Connect lets Upstorr create and verify payments without asking you to paste API secrets into the page.

Connected describes the provider account. A checkout payment method also has its own visibility switch. Both must be correct for a connection-required method to work for customers.

Disconnecting stops new Razorpay checkout payments until you reconnect. Existing money and settlements stay in Razorpay. Refunds needed while disconnected must be handled from the Razorpay Dashboard.

Understand every payment setting

  • Visible checkbox: whether customers see this method at checkout. At least one method must remain visible.
  • Up and down buttons: the order in which methods appear.
  • Connected / Not connected: whether the required provider is ready. Built in means no provider connection is required for that method.
  • Customer-facing label: the exact payment-method name customers read, up to 80 characters.
  • Helper text: the short explanation shown below that name, up to 160 characters.

Making a disconnected method visible does not magically connect its provider. Fix Not connected before relying on it.

Understand every Cash on Delivery field

  • COD max order value: hide COD above this order amount. Leave empty to allow every otherwise eligible Indian order value.
  • COD handling fee amount: extra money added to the full order total when COD is chosen.
  • COD handling fee label: the name customers see for that fee line.
  • COD deposit amount: money the customer pays online now to confirm the order; the remaining amount is collected on delivery.
  • COD deposit label: the name shown for that online confirmation amount.

For example, with a ₹5,000 maximum, ₹40 handling fee, and ₹200 deposit, an eligible ₹1,000 goods order becomes ₹1,040 total. The customer pays ₹200 online now and the remaining ₹840 on delivery.

What happens next

New checkouts use the saved method visibility, order, wording, provider readiness, and COD rules. Existing orders keep the payment record created when they were placed.

Common problems

  • A method cannot be hidden: It is the last visible method; enable another one first.
  • Online says Not connected: Connect or repair Razorpay.
  • COD disappears for a customer: Check the order value against the maximum and other checkout eligibility rules.
  • The COD total is higher: The saved handling fee was added.
  • The customer is asked to pay now on COD: A deposit amount is configured.
  • Changes do not appear: Save, then reload a fresh checkout rather than an old already-open page.
