Choose which saved customer address Upstorr suggests first for delivery and billing.

Before you start

Open the customer and save at least one complete address. For Indian deliveries, use the correct state and PIN code.

Steps

  1. Open Customers and select the customer.
  2. Add or edit the addresses they use.
  3. Choose Use for shipping on the address normally used for delivery.
  4. Turn Use same billing address as shipping on or off.
  5. If it is off, choose a separate Default billing address.
  6. Select Save.

Set as default shipping address

Turn this on when this is the address Upstorr should choose first for the customer in POS and storefront checkout. Only one saved address can be the default shipping address.

You can also open the menu on a saved address and select Use for shipping.

Use same billing address as shipping

Choose Yes when invoices and payments should start with the same address used for delivery. When it is on, changing the default shipping address also changes the effective billing address.

Choose No when the customer receives goods at one address but needs billing documents at another. A Default billing address selector then appears.

These are starting choices for checkout. They do not rewrite the address stored on an older order.

Default shipping address

This selector decides which saved address should be suggested first for delivery. If the customer has no saved address yet, add one before choosing a default.

Default billing address

This selector appears only when billing and shipping are different. It decides which saved address should be suggested first for billing.

Address labels

  • Shipping means the address is the current default for delivery.
  • Billing means the address is the current default for billing.
  • One address can have both labels.

What happens next

POS and storefront checkout start with these saved choices the next time this customer is used. Older orders keep the addresses already recorded on them.

Common problems

  • A default selector is unavailable: save an address first.
  • The billing selector is missing: turn Use same billing address as shipping to No.
  • An address cannot be saved: complete address line 1, city, state, country, and postal code.

Before deleting an address

If you delete a default address, review the customer's checkout defaults afterward. Upstorr keeps the remaining address preferences valid, but you should confirm that the newly selected address is the one the customer wants.
