What this helps you do

A gift card product is the item customers can buy. Its denominations are the fixed choices, such as ₹500, ₹1,000, and ₹2,000.

An issued gift card is the real code and balance owned by a customer after a gift card is created or purchased. This guide is about the sellable product.

Before you start

Choose the fixed rupee values you want to sell. Check them carefully because denominations cannot be edited after creation. Your staff role must allow you to manage gift cards.

Steps

  1. Open Products, then Gift Card.
  2. Select Create gift card product.
  3. Enter a clear Title, such as “Upstorr Gift Card”.
  4. Add a Description explaining where and how the gift card can be used.
  5. Add images or videos under Media. Choose the thumbnail customers should see first.
  6. Under Denominations, enter each amount customers may choose. Select Add denomination for another value.
  7. Choose the Status and Publishing locations.
  8. Add optional organisation and search fields.
  9. Select Create.

Understand every special field

Denominations

Each denomination becomes a fixed value a customer can buy. Every value must be greater than zero and can have no more than two decimal places. Repeated values are saved only once and values are arranged from lowest to highest.

Keep at least one denomination. Denominations cannot be changed after the gift card product is created. If the value choices are wrong, create a new gift card product with the correct choices.

Status

  • Active: the product is ready to be sold through its selected publishing locations.
  • Draft: the product is saved but not ready for customers.
  • Archived: the product is kept in your records and cannot be published.

Publishing

  • Online Store: makes the gift card product available on your storefront when its status allows it.
  • Point of Sale: allows staff to sell it through POS when its status allows it.

Archiving the product turns off both publishing choices.

Vendor, collections, and tags

These organise the gift card product like other products. Vendor identifies the brand or supplier. Collections place it in customer-facing groups. Tags are flexible labels used to organise and find it.

Deleting a vendor or tag from its picker removes that vendor or tag from every product that uses it. Simply clear it from this product when you do not want to affect other products.

Page title and URL handle

The Page title is the title prepared for search engines. About 50 to 60 characters is recommended. The URL handle is the readable last part of the product address. Changing the handle changes the address customers use.

What happens next

The gift card product is saved with its fixed denominations. An Active product can be sold only through the publishing locations you selected.

Common problems

  • Create is grey: Add a title and at least one valid denomination above zero.
  • A denomination cannot be saved: Use no more than two decimal places and keep it at or below ₹9,99,99,999.99.
  • You cannot edit denominations later: This is permanent by design. Create a new gift card product with the correct values.
  • Publishing choices are grey: Archived products cannot be published. Change the status first.
