What this helps you do
Upstorr calls an automatic collection a Smart collection. You make rules, and Upstorr includes existing and future products that match them.
For example, you can make an “Under ₹1,000” collection using the rule Price is less than 1000. A future product that matches can appear without you adding it by hand.
Before you start
Decide the exact rule a product must pass. Check that the products already have the categories, tags, prices, stock, weights, or variant titles you plan to test.
Steps
- Open Products, then Collections.
- Select Create collection.
- Enter the title, description, and optional collection image.
- Under Collection type, choose Smart.
- Choose whether products must match all conditions or any condition.
- Build the first condition by choosing a field, a comparison, and a value.
- Select Add another condition if you need another rule.
- Select Save.
- Open the saved collection to preview the products currently included.
All conditions or any condition?
- All conditions means a product must pass every rule. Example: Category is “Shirts” AND Price is less than 1500.
- Any condition means passing one rule is enough. Example: Tag equals “sale” OR Tag equals “clearance”.
Fields you can test
- Title: the product name.
- Category: the category assigned to the product.
- Tag: a saved product tag.
- Price: the normal selling price.
- Sale Price: the reduced selling price.
- Weight: the product or variant weight used by the stored product data.
- Inventory stock: the available stock number.
- Variant's title: the name of a variant, such as “Blue / Large”.
Comparisons in simple words
- is equal to: the value must match.
- is not equal to: the value must be different.
- is greater than / is less than: used for number fields such as price, weight, and stock.
- starts with / ends with: checks the beginning or end of text.
- contains / does not contain: checks whether the text includes the words you enter.
Number fields accept only number comparisons. Enter only the number in their value box. For a ₹1,000 price rule, enter 1000, not the rupee sign.
Important rules
- A smart collection must keep at least one condition.
- One collection can have up to 60 conditions.
- A condition value can contain up to 255 characters.
- The collection type cannot be changed after creation.
- You cannot manually add or remove individual products from a smart collection. Change the product or the conditions instead.
- The products shown in the editor are a preview of the current rules. On a brand-new collection, save first to see the preview.
What happens next
Upstorr calculates the collection from your saved rules. Products can enter or leave the collection when their details change.
Common problems
- The expected products do not appear: Check every rule and whether you chose all conditions or any condition.
- A number is rejected: Enter only a valid number, without ₹, kg, or other words.
- Remove condition is grey: A smart collection must keep at least one condition.
- You cannot add a product by hand: Smart collection membership comes from rules. Change the product or rules instead.
