What this helps you do

Find the right people, understand Upstorr’s customer labels, and safely act on several selected profiles.

Before you start

Open Customers. A lifecycle or RFM label is a shopping-history summary, not a promise about what a person will do next.

Steps

  1. Choose a tab such as All, New, Engaged, VIP, At Risk, Champions, or Email.
  2. Search by customer name, email, or phone number.
  3. Sort by name, email, phone, lifecycle, RFM, or joined date.
  4. Check the customer’s Status, Orders, Total spent, Lifecycle, RFM, and Contact consent columns.
  5. Select customer rows only when you need to save an exact group or remove profiles.
  6. Select Save group, give it a name from 1 to 120 characters, and save up to 1,000 selected customers.
  7. Use Delete only when those customer profiles truly need to be removed.

Understand the tabs

  • All: every customer profile in the store.
  • New: customers in the New lifecycle stage.
  • Engaged: customers who currently show active shopping engagement.
  • VIP: high-value engaged customers under the store’s calculated segmentation.
  • At Risk: previously valuable or engaged customers whose recent behaviour has weakened.
  • Champions: the strongest current RFM group based on recency, frequency, and spending.
  • Email: customers whose email marketing consent is on. It does not mean every email address is deliverable forever.

Understand the columns

  • Status — Verified: the customer has verified their email. Pending means verification is not complete.
  • Orders: number of orders connected to that customer.
  • Total spent: totals from eligible paid orders; unpaid or failed orders do not increase it.
  • Lifecycle: broad New, Engaged, VIP, or At Risk stage calculated from store activity.
  • RFM: a more detailed group based on how recently, how often, and how much the customer buys.
  • Contact consent: Email and WhatsApp badges show recorded marketing permission. No consent means no marketing channel is currently allowed.

A phone number or email address is contact information. It is not marketing permission by itself.

Save selected customers as a group

The quick Save group action creates a manual group containing the exact selected profiles. It does not keep adding future customers automatically. Use a rules-based customer group when membership should recalculate from conditions.

For example, select 25 people attending a private event and save them as “August event guests”. That group keeps those exact people until you edit it.

Delete selected customers safely

Deleting removes each selected customer account and profile. Their existing orders and other business history stay so past records remain understandable. The operation can partly succeed: profiles successfully deleted remain gone while failed selections stay selected for review.

What happens next

Search, tabs, and sorting change the visible list. A saved manual group becomes available for other supported customer-group selections. Deleted profiles disappear after Upstorr confirms each deletion.

Common problems

  • A customer is in an unexpected segment: Labels recalculate from eligible purchase history and are relative to activity in your store.
  • Save group is disabled: Select at least one customer, use no more than 1,000, and enter a name from 1 to 120 characters.
  • Email tab count is lower than expected: Only customers with recorded email marketing consent belong there.
  • Orders remain after deleting a customer: This is intentional; deleting the profile does not erase business history.
  • Some selected deletions failed: Successfully removed profiles stay removed. Review only the remaining selected profiles and retry after reading the error.
