What this helps you do
Make sure every POS sale is recorded under the correct store, physical location, register, and staff member.
Before you start
Pair the device. The store owner must give the staff member POS access, a location assignment, and an active PIN.
Steps
- Sign in and choose the store you want to run POS for.
- Confirm the location shown on the staff screen.
- Let the person who is about to use POS enter their own PIN.
- Check that Current staff session shows their name.
- Start or continue the register cash session before taking cash.
Choose a store
The store chooser appears when your account can use more than one store. Select the store name, not merely a similar store URL. Everything loaded next—locations, products, staff, orders, and register activity—belongs to that store.
If the list is empty, the signed-in account has no usable store. Ask the account administrator to check store access.
Switch staff safely
Open Staff and select Switch staff. This signs the current POS staff member out of the staff session and returns to PIN entry. It does not unpair the device or remove the store.
Each person should use their own PIN. This keeps sales attribution, cash activity, permissions, returns, and other recorded actions connected to the person who actually performed them.
Understand the location label
The location is the outlet or exhibit where this device is working. Stock availability, cash tracking, and POS permissions can depend on it. If it is wrong, stop before selling and ask an administrator to correct the device assignment or exhibit selection.
Unpair the device
Open Settings → Unpair current device only when this phone or tablet should stop using its saved POS device slot. After confirmation, the app returns to the pair-code screen.
Unpairing is different from Switch staff:
- Switch staff keeps the device connected and only changes the person using it.
- Unpair disconnects the whole phone or tablet and requires a new pair code before POS can be used again.
What happens next
POS loads the chosen store and applies the signed-in staff member's permissions. Their actions can now be attributed correctly.
When POS restarts, it reloads only saved device, location, register, and cart information that belongs to the same context. If the device session expired or no longer matches, POS returns to pairing instead of opening with mixed store data.
Common problems
- No stores found: Ask the account administrator to give your account access to a store.
- The wrong person's name appears: Select Switch staff and use the correct person's PIN.
- The location is wrong: Do not make the sale. Ask an administrator to check the paired-device assignment.
- A feature is missing: The current staff member may not have that POS permission.
- You unpaired by mistake: Generate a new pair code from the admin and pair the device again.
