What this helps you do
Open the editor, make one safe change, preview it, and save it without surprising customers.
Before you start
Open Online Store → Themes. If you are planning a major redesign, duplicate the theme first so you have a separate working copy.
Steps
- Find the theme and select Edit theme.
- Wait until the storefront preview appears in the middle.
- Use the page picker at the top to choose the page you want to edit.
- Select a section in the left panel or click it in the preview while editor overlays are on.
- Change its fields in the settings panel on the right.
- Check the preview in desktop, tablet, and mobile sizes.
- Select Save. This stores a private draft; customers still see the published design.
- When everything is ready, select Publish and confirm.
What happens next
After Save, the editor remembers the draft. After Publish, Upstorr creates a published design version and makes it live for customers.
Common problems
- Preview is still loading: wait for the progress bar and preview to finish. If it fails, use the retry option rather than refreshing repeatedly.
- Save is unavailable: make a change first and make sure your staff role can edit storefront content.
- Publish is unavailable: the theme or draft is not ready to publish, or your staff role lacks permission.
- Unsaved badge remains after publishing: a newer edit happened while publishing. Select Save, review the preview, and publish again.
