What this helps you do

Open the editor, make one safe change, preview it, and save it without surprising customers.

Before you start

Open Online Store → Themes. If you are planning a major redesign, duplicate the theme first so you have a separate working copy.

Steps

  1. Find the theme and select Edit theme.
  2. Wait until the storefront preview appears in the middle.
  3. Use the page picker at the top to choose the page you want to edit.
  4. Select a section in the left panel or click it in the preview while editor overlays are on.
  5. Change its fields in the settings panel on the right.
  6. Check the preview in desktop, tablet, and mobile sizes.
  7. Select Save. This stores a private draft; customers still see the published design.
  8. When everything is ready, select Publish and confirm.

What happens next

After Save, the editor remembers the draft. After Publish, Upstorr creates a published design version and makes it live for customers.

Common problems

  • Preview is still loading: wait for the progress bar and preview to finish. If it fails, use the retry option rather than refreshing repeatedly.
  • Save is unavailable: make a change first and make sure your staff role can edit storefront content.
  • Publish is unavailable: the theme or draft is not ready to publish, or your staff role lacks permission.
  • Unsaved badge remains after publishing: a newer edit happened while publishing. Select Save, review the preview, and publish again.
