What this helps you do

A market controls how your store is presented to shoppers in one or more regions. It joins a currency, language, product selection, pricing rules, and region-specific web address.

Upstorr is built for Indian merchants. A market can help you sell from India to supported international regions; it does not create inventory locations outside India.

Before you start

Choose the region, selling currency, and customer language. Decide which saved product catalog should control product availability. Your staff role must allow you to manage markets, and your plan must allow the languages used across active markets.

Steps

  1. Open Markets and select Create market.
  2. In General, enter the Market Name and choose its Currency.
  3. Choose Active or Draft under Market Status.
  4. Decide whether it is the Primary Market.
  5. Choose whether Auto-add New Products should make future products available.
  6. Select the shopper Language.
  7. Open Regions, select Browse, and add at least one region.
  8. Choose Set Primary beside the region whose URL code should represent the market.
  9. Open Catalogs and attach at least one saved catalog so Upstorr knows which products may appear.
  10. Check the Pricing tab using the separate market-pricing guide.
  11. Select Create Market.

Understand the special fields

Market Status

  • Active: the market can be visible to shoppers.
  • Draft: the setup is saved but hidden from shoppers.

You can also switch a saved market between Active and Draft from the Markets list.

Primary Market

Only one market can be the primary market. This is the store's main selling market. The primary market is protected from deletion.

Auto-add New Products

Turn this on when products created in the future should automatically become available to this market's product selection. Turn it off when you want new products reviewed before they are included.

Language

This is the language shoppers use in the market. Your plan limits how many different languages can be used across active markets. Choosing a language does not magically translate text that has not been translated in Upstorr.

Regions and URL Prefix

A region decides where the market applies. Each selected region receives a URL prefix, such as /in for India. The Primary URL code becomes the main code saved for that market. A region code cannot belong to two markets at the same time.

Catalog

The attached catalog controls which products are available in the market. At least one catalog is required. This guide covers only its use for customer-facing market availability; unreleased merchant features are intentionally not included.

What happens next

The market uses its selected regions, language, currency, product availability, and pricing settings. A Draft market remains hidden until you make it Active.

Common problems

  • Create Market is grey: Add a name, valid currency, language, at least one region, and at least one catalog.
  • A region is missing from the picker: It may already belong to another market.
  • The market cannot be deleted: The primary market cannot be deleted. Other markets may also need linked POS locations moved first.
  • The store text is not translated: Selecting a language chooses the market language; the relevant content still needs a translation.
  • A new product is missing: Check Auto-add New Products and the attached catalog's product availability.
