What this means

Two settings work together:

  • Status decides whether the product is ready to sell.
  • Publishing decides where the product can be sold.

An item must be Active and selected for a sales channel before customers can buy it through that channel.

Simple example

Imagine that you are preparing a new necklace. Keep its status as Draft while you add photos and check the price. When it is ready, change the status to Active and select Online Store. Select Point of Sale too if staff should be able to add it to POS bills.

What you need to know

  • Active means the product is ready to sell through its selected sales channels.
  • Draft keeps an unfinished product in the admin without making it available to customers.
  • Archived keeps an old product record but removes it from both sales channels. Archived products cannot be published.
  • Online Store shows an active product on your storefront.
  • Point of Sale allows an active product to be used in POS billing.
  • New physical products start as Active, with both sales channels selected. Always check these settings before the first save.
  • Digital products stay private until their required files are uploaded.
