What this helps you do

Save the GST values you use often so product setup is quicker and more consistent.

Before you start

Turn on tax collection. Confirm the correct HSN or SAC codes and rates with your accountant before saving them as defaults.

Steps

  1. Open Settings, then open Tax.
  2. Find GST Defaults.
  3. Choose a Default Product Type: Goods for items or Service for work performed.
  4. Enter the Default HSN/SAC Code used as the starting code for products.
  5. Choose the Default UQC, which is the standard unit used to count the product on GST records.
  6. Under HSN to GST Mapping, select Add Mapping.
  7. Enter one HSN or SAC code, its GST rate, its UQC, and whether it represents Goods or Service.
  8. Add more mappings for other codes you commonly use.
  9. Remove any row you do not want to save.
  10. Save the Tax settings.

What happens next

When a saved code is selected on a product, Upstorr can use its matching GST rate, UQC, and product type. These are starting values; check the product before saving it.

Codes accept digits only and can contain up to 8 digits. GST rates can be from 0% to 100%. You can save up to 200 mapping rows.

Common problems

  • A mapping disappears after saving: both its code and GST rate must be filled in.
  • Letters disappear from the code: the HSN/SAC field accepts numbers only.
  • The Add Mapping button is unavailable: the 200-row limit has been reached.
  • Goods and Service are confusing: this is the GST classification, not whether Upstorr tracks stock or delivers a file.
