What this means

A section is a large horizontal part of a page, such as a banner, featured products, newsletter form, or footer. A block is a smaller item inside a section, such as one heading, button, image, product, or menu column.

Select an item

Select a section or block in the left panel. You can also select supported content in the middle preview when overlays are visible. Its fields open on the right.

Add section

Select Add section in the correct page group, then choose from the types allowed by that theme and page template. The available list changes because not every section makes sense on every page.

Add block

Open a section and select Add block. Each section allows its own block types and may have a maximum number. If the button is unavailable, the section may be full or fixed by the theme.

Reorder

Drag a section or block using its drag handle. A locked handle means the theme does not allow that item to move. Moving a parent block also moves everything nested inside it.

Rename

Renaming changes the organiser label inside the editor. It helps your team understand the layout. It does not necessarily change customer-facing text; edit the actual text field for that.

Hide and Show

Hide keeps the section or block in the draft but stops it from appearing in the rendered page. Show makes it visible again. This is useful when you may reuse content later.

Remove

Remove deletes that section or block from the draft. Some fixed theme items cannot be removed. Use Hide when you are unsure; use Remove when you no longer need it.

Copy block and Paste inside

Copy saves a supported block and its nested content to the editor clipboard. Paste inside adds the copied block into a compatible parent. Pasting can be unavailable when the target does not allow that block type, the maximum has been reached, or the copied block is fixed.

The left panel can separate shared areas from page-specific content. A template section belongs to the selected page type. Header or footer groups may appear across many pages, so edit them carefully.

Unpublished product warning

If a visible section points to a product that is not published to the Online Store, Upstorr warns that the section is or will be hidden from the live website. Publish the product to that channel or replace it before publishing the theme.

Simple example

A featured-products section contains four product blocks. Drag the best seller to the top, hide a seasonal product, and add another product block. Only that section changes; the theme's overall colours do not.

What you need to know

  • Sections control page areas; blocks control items inside them.
  • Some items are fixed, non-removable, or non-reorderable by the theme.
  • Hidden is different from removed.
  • Every structural change remains a draft until saved and published.
