What this means

Every theme decides which settings it supports. The exact names can differ, but the controls below behave consistently.

Theme settings

These are global design settings, commonly grouped into areas such as colours, typography, buttons, layout, and media. A global change can affect every section that uses that setting.

Section and block settings

These belong to one selected section or block. Their values normally affect only that item or that page area.

Colour

Choose one colour value. When transparency is supported, lowering it lets content behind the colour show through.

Colour scheme

A colour scheme is a reusable group of colours. Several sections can use the same scheme. Editing the scheme's colours affects every section using it; merely choosing a different scheme for one section affects only that section.

Font picker and font preset

The font picker chooses a font family and supported style or weight. A font preset chooses a prepared typography combination. Check headings, buttons, prices, and small mobile text after changing fonts.

Range or number

These control measured values such as spacing, width, size, opacity, or columns. Read the unit shown beside the field. 20 px and 20% do not mean the same thing.

Checkbox or Yes/No choice

Turns one supported behaviour on or off, such as showing a label or enabling an animation. It does not delete the related content.

Select

Chooses one allowed option prepared by the theme, such as alignment, size, layout style, or colour scheme.

Image and video

Choose an existing storefront file or upload a supported one. Removing the selection from a field does not necessarily delete the file from the media library. Files moved to Trash can be restored for 90 days before permanent removal.

Product, collection, blog, page, and menu selectors

These connect the section to real content in Upstorr. If the selected content is later unpublished or deleted, the storefront section may become empty or hidden.

Choose a known page or enter a custom link. An internal path starts with /, such as /pages/about-us. A complete external link starts with https://. Test custom links in the preview.

Conditional fields

Some fields appear only after another setting is enabled or a particular layout is selected. This is intentional: the hidden field does not apply to the current choice.

Simple example

You change the global “Primary” colour scheme from green to blue. Every section using Primary can become blue. If you instead change one banner from Primary to “Light,” only that banner switches schemes.

What you need to know

  • A field description and unit matter more than the field's number by itself.
  • Global settings have a wider effect than section settings.
  • Resource selectors point to real store content; they do not copy that content into the theme.
  • Always check desktop and mobile after typography, spacing, media, or layout changes.
