What this helps you do

Add many customers from one file or download the exact customer records you need.

Before you start

Use a CSV file, not an Excel workbook. Download Upstorr's sample and instructions so the column names are correct.

Steps

Import customers

  1. Open Customers and select Import.
  2. Download Sample CSV and Instructions from the import window.
  3. Put your customer information into the sample structure.
  4. Add the CSV file and select Upload CSV.
  5. If any row enables email or WhatsApp marketing, confirm that those customers personally gave permission.

Use yes in the email_marketing or whatsapp_marketing column only when you have that customer's consent. A phone number or email address is not consent.

An email that already belongs to a customer is an error instead of creating a duplicate profile. If any row is invalid, Upstorr imports nothing and shows an error report that you can download and correct.

Export customers

Select Export, then choose exactly which records you need:

  • Currently loaded: only customers already loaded into the table on your screen.
  • All customers: every customer in this store, across every page.
  • Selected customers: only the rows you ticked. A selected or currently loaded export supports up to 1,000 customers at once.
  • Current filtered view: every customer matching the current tab and search, including matching rows that have not loaded on screen yet.

Simple example

You search for Mumbai and see the first 50 results. Currently loaded exports those loaded rows. Current filtered view exports every customer that matches the search, even if more results exist on later pages.

Customer exports can contain personal information. Share and store the file carefully.

What happens next

Successful imports appear in the customer list. An export downloads a CSV containing the scope you chose.

Common problems

  • Some rows were not imported: download the error file, fix the named rows, and upload the corrected file.
  • An existing customer email is listed as an error: remove that row or use a different, correct email. The rest of the file is not imported until every error is fixed.
  • Selected export is unavailable: select at least one customer and keep the selection at 1,000 or fewer.
  • Marketing confirmation appears: at least one CSV row says yes for a marketing channel, so Upstorr needs your consent confirmation.
