What this means

Upstorr treats the main admin and Point of Sale as separate places. The same person may need one or both.

Simple example

An accountant who works only in the admin is a Store user. A cashier who uses only the counter app is a POS user. A shop manager who edits products in the admin and also works at the counter is Both.

What you need to know

  • Store user: signs in through an email invitation and receives one Store role.
  • POS user: uses a 4–6 digit POS PIN and receives a POS role separately for each assigned POS location.
  • Both: combines Store and POS access for the same person. The shared name is used across the combined record.
  • Coverage: Store only, POS only, or Store + POS. It describes where the person has access, not whether every permission is allowed.
  • Assigned role: the role or role summary controlling allowed work.
  • Location access: the POS outlets or exhibits the person can use and the role used at each one.
  • Store Pending: an invitation was sent but has not been accepted.
  • Store Active: the invitation was accepted and Store access is active.
  • Store Inactive: Store access is no longer active.
  • POS Active / Inactive: whether the person's POS access can currently be used.

Once a Store invitation is accepted, the staff member manages their own account name. The merchant may see that name locked with the message that it is managed from the staff member's Upstorr account.

Leaving the PIN box empty while editing an active POS user keeps the existing PIN. Reactivating an inactive POS user requires a fresh PIN.
