What this helps you do
Market pricing lets you decide whether a market should reuse its catalog prices or use prices calculated specially for that market.
Before you start
Create and save the market first. Attach at least one catalog, because the catalog still controls which products are available. If GST collection is enabled, remember that market prices entered in the admin are GST exclusive.
Steps
- Open Markets and select the market.
- Open the Pricing tab.
- Choose Catalog pricing or Market pricing.
- Choose a Rounding mode and, when required, a Rounding increment.
- If using Market pricing, choose Base price or Percentage adjustment.
- Enter the adjustment percentage when that option is selected.
- Save the market's main settings.
- For a product-specific price, enter its fixed price in the product table and save that row.
Understand the pricing modes
Catalog pricing
The market uses prices from its attached catalog. Market pricing settings and product-specific market prices are ignored while this mode is active.
Market pricing
The market can calculate its own price. Catalogs still decide which products are visible.
- Base price: starts from the product's normal base price.
- Percentage adjustment: adds or subtracts a percentage from the GST-exclusive base price. A positive number is a markup; a negative number is a discount.
For example, 10 increases a ₹1,000 base price to ₹1,100 before any applicable tax. -10 reduces it to ₹900 before tax.
An adjustment can range from -100% to 1,000% and can use up to two decimal places.
Understand rounding
The Rounding increment is the step used to make calculated prices neater. With an increment of ₹0.50:
- No rounding: ₹101.23 stays ₹101.23.
- Nearest increment: ₹101.23 becomes ₹101.00, while ₹101.26 becomes ₹101.50.
- Always round up: ₹101.23 becomes ₹101.50.
- Always round down: ₹101.23 becomes ₹101.00.
The increment can use up to four decimal places.
Product-specific fixed prices
The product table lets you override the calculated price for one product in this market. Enter the fixed regular price first; a fixed sale price cannot exist without it. Clear the regular fixed price to remove that product's market override.
Fixed product prices can be edited only after the market has been created and while Market pricing is selected. Loading another 50 products does not change the products already shown.
What happens next
Upstorr uses the selected pricing mode, strategy, rounding, and any saved product-specific prices when calculating prices for this market.
Common problems
- The product price table is read-only: Save the market first and choose Market pricing.
- No products appear: Attach a catalog and make sure your staff role includes product access.
- The sale price is rejected: Enter a fixed regular price before the fixed sale price.
- The adjustment is rejected: Keep it between -100 and 1,000 and use no more than two decimal places.
- The price looks different after tax: With GST collection enabled, values configured here are GST exclusive.
