What this helps you do
Create an offer that customers receive by entering a code or by matching automatic rules.
Before you start
Decide the discount value, what it applies to, who can use it, and when it should run. A code-based coupon must have a unique code.
Steps
- Open Coupons and select Create coupon.
- Enter an internal Title that helps you recognise the offer.
- Choose Discount code if the customer should type a code, or Automatic discount if matching carts should receive it without a code.
- For a code discount, enter the code or select Generate code.
- Choose an Order discount or Product discount.
- Choose Percentage or Fixed amount, then enter the value.
- Select whether the product scope is built from products or collections, then choose them.
- Choose which customers are eligible.
- Add a minimum purchase rule only if one is needed.
- Set total and per-customer usage limits.
- Review which other discount types it may combine with.
- Set its start, optional end, and Enabled state.
- Read the summary card, then select Create coupon.
What happens next
An enabled coupon becomes usable only when its start time has arrived and every rule matches. A future start appears as Scheduled. An end time in the past appears as Expired.
Common problems
- The code already exists: enter a different code; codes are saved in uppercase.
- The coupon cannot be saved: add a title, a positive value, at least one target, and any required customer or minimum selection.
- A percentage is rejected: percentage discounts cannot be greater than 100%.
- Customers do not receive an automatic discount: check Enabled, dates, eligibility, targets, minimums, limits, and combination rules.
