What this means

Product kind tells Upstorr what happens after a customer buys something.

  • Physical product is an item that uses stock and might need delivery.
  • Service is work you do for a customer. It does not use product stock or shipping.
  • Digital product is a private file that the customer receives after payment. It does not use stock, shipping, or bookings.

Simple example

A necklace is a Physical product because you keep pieces in stock and deliver one to the customer. A consultation is a Service because there is no item to ship. A downloadable wallpaper is a Digital product because the customer receives a file.

What you need to know

  • New products start as Physical product.
  • A physical product can also be marked Bookable product when it needs to be used in a booking offer.
  • A service can be sold directly or used in a booking offer.
  • A digital product must first be saved as a private Draft. After that, upload one file for the whole product or a file for every variant. Upstorr will not let you activate or publish it until the required files are ready.
  • Changing the product kind changes the fields shown on the page. For example, inventory and delivery fields are hidden when they do not apply.
