What this means

Bookings let customers reserve a product for a particular date and time. Upstorr builds that experience from four connected pieces.

What you need to know

The four pieces of a booking

  1. A product is what the customer pays for, such as a consultation or camera rental.
  2. A booking offer turns that product into something the customer can reserve for a date and time.
  3. A resource is something that must be free for the booking, such as a doctor, room, studio, or camera kit.
  4. Availability tells Upstorr when the offer and its resources may be booked.

Simple example

You sell a 60-minute dental consultation. The consultation is the product, “Dental consultation” is the booking offer, Dr Neha is the required resource, and Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm is the availability.

The customer sees a slot only when the offer is available and every required resource can handle that booking.

Set things up in this order

  1. Create a Physical product or Service that supports booking. Digital products cannot be used.
  2. Create any people, rooms, spaces, or equipment needed as booking resources.
  3. Create the booking offer and connect it to the product.
  4. Add the required resources to the offer.
  5. Save the offer.
  6. Add availability to the offer and, when needed, to its resources.
  7. Test the booking from your website before sharing it with customers.

Important difference

Offer availability says, “customers may book at this time.” Resource availability says, “this particular person, room, or item is free at this time.” If an offer has no hours, its website slots stay hidden. If a resource has no hours of its own, it follows the linked offer's hours.
