What this helps you do
Create a domestic courier shipment for the right group of order items and prepare it for pickup.
Before you start
Connect Shiprocket in Settings → Shipping & delivery. The order needs a customer name, phone number, complete Indian shipping address, and a ship-to-customer fulfilment that is ready and does not already have an active shipment.
Steps
- Open Orders and select the order.
- In Fulfilments, find the correct row and open its action menu.
- Select Create shipment.
- Check the pickup location selected by Upstorr. It comes from the inventory location assigned to this fulfilment.
- Enter every parcel under Packages.
- Select Calculate rates.
- Compare the available Surface and Express choices. Upstorr preselects the cheapest rate in the customer’s chosen mode when that mode is available.
- Select the courier choice you want.
- Select Create shipment once and wait.
- Save the shown waybill number, then select Open Shiprocket to schedule pickup now or Done to do it later.
Understand every package field
- Type: Box for a rigid parcel or Flyer for a courier bag.
- Wt (g): the packed parcel’s weight in grams, including its packaging. It must be at least 50 g.
- L, W, H (cm): the packed parcel’s outside length, width, and height in centimetres. Every value must be greater than 0.5 cm.
- Add package: add another physical parcel. One shipment can contain up to five packages.
- Payment mode: Upstorr shows PREPAID when no amount is due at delivery, or COD when the courier must collect an amount.
Measure the packed parcel, not the bare product. Wrong weight or size can cause courier price corrections later.
When there are several packages, Upstorr adds their weights. For the courier-size request it uses the largest length, largest width, and the packages’ heights added together.
What the delivery choices mean
- Surface: usually travels mainly by road. It is commonly slower and cheaper.
- Express: usually prioritises a faster service. The actual promise depends on the courier and route.
- Courier name: the company that will carry the parcel.
- Cost: the current rate returned for that courier choice.
- Customer selected: the shipping speed the customer chose at checkout. If that speed is unavailable, Upstorr shows the available choices instead.
After creating the shipment
Open the fulfilment action menu to:
- Download packing slip: a list used while packing the parcel.
- Download shipping label: the courier label for the parcel.
- Schedule pickup: open Shiprocket’s ready-to-ship page.
- Download manifest: the courier handover document.
- Request cancellation: ask to cancel a shipment only while its status allows cancellation.
For pickup or a shipping process completed outside the integrated courier flow, Mark as fulfilled closes that fulfilment only. Its confirmation deliberately leaves payment status separate.
What happens next
The fulfilment gets a shipment and AWB. Tracking updates appear as Shiprocket sends them. Creating the shipment does not itself guarantee that pickup has been scheduled.
Common problems
- Create shipment is missing: The fulfilment may be waiting for stock, already have an active shipment, use another delivery type, or be past the allowed status.
- Export order is blocked: Create an international shipment in the Shiprocket dashboard; this Upstorr form creates domestic shipments only.
- Partly prepaid COD is blocked: Shiprocket cannot safely collect only the remaining part here. Create it manually in Shiprocket, or first collect and record the remaining payment.
- Required details are missing: Correct the customer or shipping address before trying again.
- Rates changed or disappeared: Editing any package invalidates the old rates. Calculate them again.
- Pickup is not scheduled: Creating a waybill and scheduling courier pickup are separate steps.
