What this helps you do
Prepare the complete sale before collecting money, including where each physical item goes and which staff member should receive credit.
Before you start
Sign in as the correct staff member and check the location. Add at least one product before applying a discount or checking out.
Steps
- Add products from Products, Scan, or a smart-grid tile.
- Use plus or minus to set each quantity, or remove an unwanted line.
- Add or create the customer when the sale needs one.
- Apply a valid discount code or custom cart discount if allowed.
- Add any legitimate custom sale or fee.
- Set staff attribution when another staff member helped make the sale.
- Open each physical line's fulfilment details and check quantity, source, delivery type, address, and rate.
- Confirm Subtotal, Discount, GST, delivery charge, and Total.
- Select Checkout.
Add a custom sale
Use Cart options → Custom sale for a one-off charge that is not a saved product.
- Item name: what the customer is paying for, such as
Alteration charge. - Price: the one-off price; it must be greater than zero.
- SKU: an optional internal reference.
- Charge GST on this item: shown when the store collects GST. Choose the true tax treatment rather than copying another item.
A custom sale has no normal inventory record. It can only be carry-out when offline.
Apply discounts
- Discount code: POS validates a saved code and its real eligibility rules online.
- Cart custom discount: enter a fixed amount. It cannot exceed the eligible subtotal.
- Automatic discounts: eligible saved rules can appear automatically after live cart validation.
The total may change when products, customer, shipping address, shipping rate, or quantities change because eligibility is calculated again. Discount-code and custom-discount tools need internet.
Add a customer
Select Add customer to find an existing person or create one. Some outlet rules can require a customer's name, phone, or other details before checkout. Delivery also needs a usable Indian address.
Changing the customer can change discounts, tax requirements, receipt options, and saved addresses. Review the total again afterward.
Attribute a sale
Choose Attribute sale to staff, then select a cart item and staff member. Attribution records who helped sell that line; it does not sign that person into POS or give them permission to edit the cart.
Manage fulfilment
A product quantity can be split into more than one fulfilment allocation. Each allocation has:
- Quantity: how many units use this allocation.
- Source: the inventory location supplying the units.
- Delivery type: Carry out, Pickup in store, Ship to customer, or Local delivery when available.
- Stock: current availability at the chosen source.
Ship-to-customer and local-delivery lines need a customer address. Shipping lines can also need a shipping rate. Custom sales cannot use a delivered fulfilment type.
Save or clear the cart
Save cart keeps the cart for later and makes it available in Saved carts. Clear cart removes all current lines and choices after confirmation. Clearing is not the same as saving.
What happens next
Checkout rechecks required customer, address, source, delivery, payment, and receipt details before creating the order.
Common problems
- A discount stopped applying: A changed item, quantity, customer, address, rate, or rule made it ineligible.
- Delivery setup is incomplete: Add a customer with an Indian address and choose a source for every delivered line.
- The cart will not update: Wait for the current cart change to finish, then try once.
- Checkout is blocked offline: Remove unsupported delivery, digital/gift-card, or custom-discount parts, or reconnect.
- A staff member is missing from attribution: Their POS access may be inactive or unavailable at this location.
