What this helps you do

Add the exact product and variant the customer is buying, using search, a product shortcut, or a barcode.

Before you start

Choose the correct POS location. Products, stock, and available variants can change by location. Allow camera access if you want to scan.

Steps

  1. Open Products or Scan.
  2. Search by product name, SKU, or barcode, or point the camera at a barcode.
  3. Open the product when you need to inspect its pictures or variants.
  4. Choose the correct variant and check its location stock.
  5. Select Add to cart.

Use the product list

The list shows a product's name, starting or selected price, and either its variant count or SKU. The small add button quickly adds the first available product choice. Open the full product when several sizes, colours, or prices exist so you do not add the wrong one.

Pull down to refresh when another device recently changed product or stock information.

Use the product page

Swipe product images when more than one exists. For each variant, POS shows its name, SKU, stock at the current POS context, and price. Pairs well with shows complementary products while online; select one to inspect or add it.

Staff with product-edit permission can open the quick product editor. Digital products and gift-card products cannot be edited from POS; use the admin for those product records.

Understand Ship to customer mode

When the banner says Ship to customer mode, newly added items become shipped lines instead of ordinary carry-out lines. POS can later choose another valid stock location as the source. Leaving this mode does not silently change lines already added to the cart.

Scan a barcode

Point the camera at one clear code. A successful scan adds quantity 1 of the matched product and first matched variant to the cart. POS briefly ignores the same code when it is seen again within about 1.2 seconds, which helps stop one physical scan becoming two items.

Use Manual code entry when the camera cannot read the label. Enter the barcode value itself, not the product name.

The camera-direction choice is remembered on that device. Turn device volume up if scan feedback is difficult to hear.

What happens next

The item appears in the current cart with its product, variant, price, GST information, stock source, and fulfilment choice.

Common problems

  • No products available: Check the current store, POS location, product status, and sales availability.
  • No product matches this barcode: Save that exact barcode on the correct product variant in the admin.
  • Camera permission denied: Allow camera access in the phone or tablet settings, then return to Scan.
  • The wrong variant was scanned: Give variants unique barcodes and use the product page to correct the cart line.
  • Stock is too low: Reduce the quantity or choose a valid source location when fulfilment allows it.
