What this helps you do

Use different shipping rules for selected physical products without changing shipping for everything else.

Before you start

Decide which products truly need separate rules. A custom profile starts with a Default group, but it still needs locations, zones, and rates before customers can use it.

Steps

  1. Open Settings, then find Shipping.
  2. Select Create custom profile.
  3. Enter a private profile name, such as Jewellery or Heavy furniture. The name can contain up to 80 characters.
  4. Select Create profile.
  5. Open the new profile and select Products.
  6. Select Add products.
  7. Search for and select the physical products that need these rules.
  8. Confirm Add products.
  9. Add fulfilment locations, shipping zones, and rates to the profile.

What happens next

The selected products move from their previous profile into this one. Customers do not see the private profile name; they see the matching shipping rate names at checkout.

Common problems

  • A product is not listed: only online physical products can use shipping profiles.
  • The product disappeared from General: this is expected after it moves to a custom profile.
  • Customers have no shipping choice: add a matching location, zone, and rate to this profile.
  • You remove a product: it returns to General automatically.
  • You delete the profile: all its physical products return to General, and the deleted profile's groups, zones, and rates are removed.
