What this helps you do

Use a manual collection when you want to choose the exact products in a group. It is useful for lists such as “Staff picks”, “Festival favourites”, or “Products on the front table”.

Products stay in this collection until you remove them. A new product is not added automatically.

Before you start

Decide which products belong together. Your staff role must allow you to manage collections, and it needs product access if you want to use the product picker.

Steps

  1. In the Upstorr admin, open Products, then Collections.
  2. Select Create collection.
  3. Enter a Title. This is the name of the collection.
  4. Add a Description that tells customers what the collection contains.
  5. Add a Collection image if you want the collection to have its own cover image.
  6. Under Collection type, choose Manual.
  7. In Products, select Browse, find a product, and add it.
  8. Repeat until the collection contains the correct products.
  9. Select Save.

Understand the fields

Description

This explains the collection rather than one product. For “Monsoon essentials”, you could write why the selected products are useful during the rainy season.

Collection image

This is the main picture for the collection. It is separate from the pictures on the products inside it. Removing the collection image does not remove product images.

Products

This is the exact membership list. Select Remove beside a product when it should no longer be in the collection. Removing it from a collection does not delete the product.

Your staff role must include product access to see the product picker. It must also allow collection management to change the collection.

Important rule

The collection type is locked after creation. A manual collection cannot later become automatic. If you need automatic rules, create a new smart collection instead.

Deleting a collection cannot be undone, but it does not delete the products inside it.

What happens next

The saved collection contains exactly the products you selected. You can reopen it to add or remove products at any time.

Common problems

  • The product picker is hidden: Your staff role does not include product access.
  • A product is missing: Search for it in the picker and add it, or check whether you opened a smart collection instead.
  • You cannot change Manual to Smart: Collection type is permanent. Create a new smart collection.
  • You removed the wrong product: Add it again. Removing it from the collection does not delete it from Upstorr.
