Maintenance mode temporarily replaces your storefront with a maintenance page. Use it when you need to make changes without allowing shoppers to use the storefront.
Before you start
Choose a private bypass password for authorised people who still need to open the storefront. Tell your team before switching the storefront off. Your staff role must allow you to manage maintenance settings.
Steps
- Open Online store, then Maintenance Mode.
- Turn Maintenance Mode on.
- If no password exists, enter a New Bypass Password.
- Enter the same value in Confirm Bypass Password.
- Select Save.
- Check that the status changes from Live to Maintenance mode.
Understand the bypass password
Authorised people can use this password to access the storefront during maintenance. It is not a customer account password and does not change your Upstorr sign-in password.
The password must contain 6 to 72 characters. Spaces at the beginning or end are ignored. When a password is already saved, leave both password fields blank to keep it. Enter a new password only when you want to replace it.
Make the storefront live again
Turn Maintenance Mode off and select Save. The status changes to Live, and normal visitors can use the storefront again. The saved bypass password can remain ready for the next maintenance period.
What happens next
While maintenance mode is active, all normal storefront visitors see the maintenance page. People with the bypass password can access the storefront for checking work.
Common problems
- Save is grey: Make a change, and make sure both password fields match.
- Maintenance mode cannot be enabled: Set a bypass password of at least 6 characters first.
- The password is rejected: Keep it within 72 characters and type the same password twice.
- Upstorr says settings changed elsewhere: Reload the newest settings. Your unsaved choices on this page will be discarded.
- Shoppers can still see the store: Refresh in a private browser window that has not already used the bypass password.
